Can’t help but sometimes it’s always about ME

This book reach me more than a year ago. Yes it took me a year plus to finish. It was a very painful reading for me. As I read and journey, what the titles said indeed is very true. But to read it, comprehends it and put it into real life situation is painful and challenging.

Nevertheless it was mind opening to read it. And I look forward the day where I will re-read it with a smile next time. YES, despite I believe in the existing of HIM, I will be frank about sometimes I do have problem in putting HIM first always..

Parenting reading

Quote from the book:”The 5 love languages of children”

Some parents think a child should try to earn their love and affection with good behavior, but this is just not possible. A child by nature continually test our love by her behavior. He is asking,”do you love me?” If we respond,”yes, I love you,” and fill his love tank, we take the pressure off and make it unnecessary for him to continue testing our love.
How true, I been hearing about unconditional love, and that’s in fact the type of love we have for our child, whether we admit it or not, but how often we tell our kids that so that they know. I now felt bad for having tell them things like:”if you cxxxxxxx, mummy will xxxxxxxxx” I now know there is a better way of saying:” when you xxxx, mummy gets reals upset, but mummy still loves you.” Not easy to do it since often when they test our patience, all I want to convey to them is that “hello! Mummy is MAD! STOP NOW!” Having said that, I need to consciously remind myself to count before losing cool, think of positive phrase before speaks, and speaks all 5 love language with my boys.

After all, our lord had granted us unconditional love from the beginning, despite how much we have sin against him or turn a deaf ears to His words… Therefore unconditional love is what we ought to give to our kids. And it’s crucial to make sure they know it.

I’m a Big Brother

Way way back, I asked M&J if they would like a mei mei or another didi, their answer were always NO! It’s magical how they become so enthusiastic when I told them there is a baby inside me.

I had a small worry, that M&J will be extremely jealous when Nathanael come along. I heard horror stories of elder siblings pinching and whacking small babies. So far, little Nate received no whacking nor spanking or all sort except lots of loves and affections.

I bought this and read to Jude today. He was so happy and felt even more special. I hope the love and affection stays. And I hope they grow up to be best pals…. I can’t wait for Nate to grow up, and going places together, doing things together!

Book Review – Building Family Ties with Faith, Love & Laughter

This is the 2nd book I read from Dave Stone. Previous book was Raising your kids to love the Lord.

The book consist of 10chapters, each illustrate how faith, love and laughter is significant to building a Christian family.

First chapter capture my attention already. It says joyful Christian family is one of endangered species. Really, I totally agreed! With the technology, Social network, super hectic life, people rarely have time for family, what’s more for lord, and building a family that is Christ centered.

Another chapter on unbreakable. Mention divorce should never be the answer to any situation in a marriage. The day we said “till death do us part” in front of that altar is true. And we should honor it. As a Christian, this is very important cause no matter how bad the situation spiral to, we should have ultimate faith that God has a way out planted. Seek for it! And that “unbreakable” family that partner vowed to keep, bring a sense of great security to children. Trust me. I know how much it hurts when I hear my parent argue. Yes even when I am 30, I still get affected if my parent gets into argument

As a conclusion, I heart this book a lot. For the fact I do have a will in building a family with strong christian faith, so does my spouse feel that way. To be reading this at this point of time, I feel more affirmed that I am indeed doing the right thing.

Book Review – Simple secrets to a happy life

Often we are reminded, not to judge a book by its cover. In this case, the book cover itself is very inviting. Gives me a feeling of peace, tranquil, settled…. and it says “Simple secrets to a happy life” by Luci Swindoll.

Who doesn’t want to be happy? I do! And if this book is going to help me get a step closer to achieving greater happiness, I am so reading it.

This is another book that I can’t seem to put it down once I started reading it. It’s a simple journal on how Luci does things, events that happened in her life, lessons she learnt that eventually lead her to live a life that is happy. And of all of the 50secrets she shared, it’s simple.. real simple…

OF course, not every secrets work for everyone. I found myself nodding to a few of it and glad that I am starting to agree that really should be put into practice.

One of it is Be on time for everything. I believe in this cause when we are on time, we are sending a message across to that person, that event or that particular thing that he/she/it is important to us. And we all know it takes effort for one to commit to something, and we know one taken things seriously by being on time. This is one of the thing that I know would please me and therefore I should practice it myself.

Find Contentment in doing without.

This is my favorite. Once I thought, by having more, it equals to bringing more joy or happiness to my life. IT IS FALSE! Luci mentioned your happiness comes from counting your blessings, not your cash. I couldn’t agree more! And this is what I am personally learning to live with it, and God has shown His grace and hopefully one day people around me that is important to me will share my sentiment.
